In addition to being very easy to use, the Blomming shipping system is highly customisable. When you open a shop, 2 shipment settings are created by default: one for the country that you have created the shop in, and another for the rest of the world. You can access these settings from Settings > Shipments.
To configure a new shipment setting, all you have to do is click '+ Add shipment setting'. Now you just need to fill in the fields to define the shipping options, entering the title of the shipment, an amount above which shipments will be free (this field is optional) and the approximate shipping times for the products.
Then it will be possible to choose between different shipping methods. There are five different types on Blomming. You can choose the one best suited to your needs. Let’s look at them here in greater detail.
Weight/volume price ranges: this type of shipment setting lets you create weight ranges and assign each one a relative shipment cost. When the customer adds the product(s) to the cart, the system will automatically calculate the total weight and then will associate the shopping cart to the corresponding weight range to calculate the shipment cost. Within a shipment, you can create difference price ranges with the ‘+ add a range’ button.
Always enter a very high price range to ensure that all shopping carts, no matter how many items they have, correspond to a price range. For example: in the image below, we have indicated that up to 20 kg, the shipment fee will be €20. If a customer orders products that bring the shopping cart to a total of 22 kg, the system doesn't 'understand' what weight range the cart should be associated to, and the customer won't be able to complete the purchase. To ensure this doesn't happen, you need to set a higher range, for example: 'Weight up to 1,000 kg: fee of €30'.
Cost per product: choosing this type of shipment fee, you can decide to apply a fixed shipment cost for each product added to the cart. All you need to do is enter the fixed cost in the corresponding field.
Price ranges: this category makes it possible to assign a shipping cost based on pre-defined receipt amounts. When a customer adds a product to the cart, the system will calculate the total price and will then associate this cart to the corresponding price range to calculate the shipping fees. You can create different price ranges by clicking the '+' button and attributing a different cost to each one.
Always enter a very high range to ensure all shopping carts correspond to a pre-set shipping fee range. For example, in the image below, we've created a parameter by which carts up to €40 will have a shipping fee of €20, those from €40 to €120 will cost €10. If we hadn't created a very high price range, for example, up to €1,000,000, the system wouldn't be able to calculate the shipping fees for an order of €150, or €300 or €2,000, blocking the customer from completing the purchase.
Coefficient by volume: by choosing this option, you can apply a shipping fee depending on the volume of product that is ordered. All you have to do is enter the fixed price in the appropriate field.
Coefficient by weight: by choosing this option, you can decide to apply a shipping fee according to the weight of the product ordered. All you have to do is enter the fixed cost in the appropriate field.
Advanced shipping: you can add a ‘special’ shipping option, linked to a specific time frame (for example, to make shipping free around Christmas or other holidays).
Defining the areas to ship to: lastly, for each shipping profile, you can set the country of reference, choosing from the areas that are already available or creating a custom zone by clicking '+ Add simple zone' and entering a name for a zone and the countries to be part of it. Can you can select the countries to add thanks to the 'Select country' search field or using the links below, which make it possible to select from the EU, Europe, Asia, North/South America and Oceania. You can also select countries manually from the list below. Once you've selected the countries you want to add, be sure to click 'Save'.
